Morocco will provide 50,000 IT outsourcing staff by 2035, mostly from Europe. The action follows the rising curve in its talent demand year after year.

In the last 10 years, the country has become an emerging hub for offshore outsourcing. This has generated several job opportunities and contribute to its economy. The local industry hires over 130,000 IT outsourcing professionals, of which Advancio has been present over the last decade.

Factors behind IT Outsourcing Increase in Morocco

In the 2000s, Morocco started providing outsourced IT support like call centers for mainly European BPO companies. Since then, the government initiated a plan to push engineers’ graduate programs, especially given the country’s young population. There’s now a pool of young talent under 25 on average with an educational investment supporting engineering and science.

Vice President of the Confédération Generale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM), Ghita Lahlou, emphasized these efforts, saying they were looking forward to being one of the top offshore destinations worldwide. This is the initial step to nurture a development model based on a productive and diversified economy, added Lahlou. Furthermore, they expect to create added value and quality jobs.

By 2035, the country plans to attract 10% of foreign direct investments (FDI). The goal is to generate about $1.4Bn in the country’s export sales. The approach to filling these outsourcing market needs is the training of about 50,000 professionals over the next 10 years.

On its part, President of the Moroccan Federation of Outsourcing Services (FMES), Yousef Chraibi, said technology sector has remained strong during pandemic. This has led the country to currently be on top places of the French-speaking market for outsourced IT support.

As a result, the country has emerged as a rising software development source for the region and a growing talent pool, further said Karim Jernite, Co-Founder of Advancio.

Advancio’s Presence in Morocco

Advancio‘s story on Africa started over a decade ago. With an ascending talent market, entrepreneurs Karim Jernite and Josie Lopez saw major advantages in helping attract and develop local professionals in Morocco, as well as other African countries. They then expanded Advancio‘s activities from Los Angeles to Casablanca.

In all these years of operations, this regional IT outsourcing talent has been a great asset for Advancio. Consequently, the teams have been developing data engineering and data science practices.

“Talent market in Morocco is exceptionally talented, capable, and faces the same challenges as the rest of the world: talent scarcity, cultural fitness, inflation, and continuous development. It’s especially important for companies to be able to find the balance between all these to attract and retain the right talent.”

Said Karim Jernite.

More demanding services in Morocco’s IT outsourcing include front-office and back-office BPO. Additionally, Advancio provides access to a global pool of tech talent for building online teams and completing software projects.
